Paper Issues Crop

I made several layouts for the Paper Issues Crop last week.  Unfortunately, I didn't film any process videos because it was spring break, and the kids were everywhere!  At least I can share the photos here.

This first layout was for a challenge that involved using no card stock.  Papers are all from last fall's Arsenic and Lace collection.

Also from the Arsenic and Lace collection, this one was a challenge to use a stencil.  On the left side of the layout, I used a recollections stencil.  I started by inking it with brilliance white pigment.  I then shifted the stencil and inked with Fired brick.

A third from the Arsenic and Lace collection, this layout was for a challenge that asked for at least 6 patterns to be used on one layout.  This was a fun one!  The stamp in the lower right corner is Stampendous.

This was a "bling" challenge.  I used stencil paste through a Heidi Swap stencil and then inked it with some of my home made glimmer mist.  I used holographic embossing powder on the title words.

This was a very involved layout.  I used a custom designed cut from my silhouette for the title.  This is full mixed media.  The background paper was from Kaiser Craft.  I gessoed it to bring down the color a bit.  I then used matte medium to apply the die cuts.  I added gold gilato to the sun die cut and around the title letters.  I heat embossed with gold on the large letters of the title.  I submitted this one for the design team entry.

This was the last layout from the echo park Creative Agenda paper... I'm so glad it's done!  I think the challenge was a color challenge.

Papers were Carta Bella yesterday.  I submitted this one to the "large title" challenge.  Lots of silhouette cuts here (I picked up a Cameo on this day... I'm so in love!)
This used a free cut file from the Paper Issues store.  I used a kaiser craft paper behind the cut file... then I took black acrylic paint and pushed it through a recollections stencil.    Some heat embossing and stamping...  This was for a challenge to use one of their free files.

This final layout didn't get completed in time to submit to a challenge ;(... But it's fun.  The background is the giant letter svg file from their store.  I used recollections papers that I bought a couple of years ago for this one.  I laid the "negative" space of the cut file down and sprayed it with some old glimmer mist.  Then I built the layout on top of that.  I glued the letters LOVE together, painted them black, covered them with Distress crackle, and then painted over that with gold pearl x paint.  They look AWESOME

I will be making a video of these layouts... but there will be no process video.  Just a layout share vid.

Pancakes

Sour dough pancakes on Sunday morning is a tradition that goes back to my Grandma.... I've been trying to perfect them for years.  Today's pancakes weren't too bad.  Here's my layout:

Special Day

I just got my first month of Unity Stamp Club stamps in the mail today.  I had to get them inky!  I decided to use some of the stamps to make a layout for Jack's last birthday.  Here's my layout:

On the Hunt

Here's my layout about Tony's recent job hunt.  He was put on furlough by his previous job in early December.  It took until late February to secure a job.  In the end, we were job hunting all over the nation.  Luckily, he found a great job right here in Boise!

Imaginative Play

Here's the page I've made to celebrate Jack's emerging love of imaginative play.  I consider this to be a huge milestone.  Many developmentally delayed kids never learn to play imaginative games or make up scenarios.  This kind of play is crucial to intellectual development.

SMALL

I responded to this mood board by using the colors of the images.  I also mimicked the paint on the door for my background and stamped the background with a wood grain to echo the wood grain on the door.

Kindergarten

Here's a blast from the past.  This gorgeous photo was printed on metallic paper.  I needed to be scrapped!

I should have a process video soon!

Here is the blog I'm responding to:
http://scraparoundtheworld.blogspot.com/2014/03/march-2014-challenge-11-pretty-in-pink.html

I found the color, the flowers, the paint, and the dress inspiring.  I used gesso on a stamp for the paint.  I added the trim on the left for the dress.  I added the vellum flowers to represent the cherry blossoms.  And of course it is heavily influenced by pink!

Mojo Monday 388: The Bunny is Back

Here is a link to the blog challenge I am responding to:
http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/2015/03/mojo-monday-388.html

Here's my Card:

No process video for this one.  Here's what I did:

  • Started with a recollections card stock base in a limey green.  Then used a pattern paper from Echo Park 6x6 collection.  I used both sides of the pattern paper on this card.  The carrots are the background and the green plaid is the a 3/4" band.
  • I stamped the band with Olive Green Staz-On using a Studio G stamp.
  • Then in black staz-on, I stamped the bunny image and the carrots.  I water colored the carrots and bunny with distress ink.
  • I punched the background scallop circle with a Stampin Up! punch and embossed it with a cuttlebug folder.  I then inked it with distress wild honey and dried marigold.
  • I popped the bunny up on foam tape.  The orange twine is from Target dollar spot.  The black "gems" are Black Jewel Dazzles stickers from Hot Off the Press.
Enjoy!

2 Challenges: Lizard Eyes

Goofy Glasses... Hats.... Dress up of any kind is a big hit with Jack.

I did a layout process video for this one:

I used this blog sketch challenge to create this layout:

I also attempted to do Fiona's PIT challenge, although it didn't work as I had hoped.  Here's a link to her challenge:
